Tilted Knight Metal Designs is the result of the natural progression of a family business established originally in 1985. With a long history in construction and general contracting, welding and metal fabrication has long been a part of our craft. Fast forward to 2019, the
family decision was made to heavily focus on the passion we have for working with metals and more artistic expression.
As can be seen from our work, we each have unique styles and express our own artistic flair in our individual pieces. We also simply enjoy collaborating together. We realize what a privilege it is to be able to work so closely together and do what we love. We hope that can be seen through our work.
So, the story goes like this: Dave and his son Philip, both avid motorcycle enthusiasts decided in 2009 and 2010 to put on some week-long motorcycle trips along with a bunch of their close friends. Of course, this "gang" would need a name! So, considering their shared affinity for bikes and craft beer, we came up with the name "Tilted Knights".
Sadly, in late 2018 we lost our dear son, brother and friend, Philip, suddenly to a rare and previously unknown genetic disorder. As we decided how to move forward, we knew we needed a name. The family agreed that Tilted Knight Metal Designs was perfect! This name
would speak to the medium that we work with, but would also always be a "nod" to Philip.
Our work has always been about family. We have always worked together, enjoying not only each other's company, but also being able to deliver an end result that brings smiles to those we interact with. We love the challenges of working with materials that don't always "cooperate" because, when we achieve what we have envisioned, not only are our clients happy, but we are too!
When Dave is not working, he is definitely not sleeping...But you will often find him playing his electric guitars in the mirror, dreaming of his days as a wanna-be rock star.
Dave is inspired by his family, the people he knows and doesn't know, and challenges he's faced. You can see this reflected in his pieces called "More to life than this" and "Almost There".
After 39 years of being a wife and mother Tracy is still committed to taking care of her family but excited to work alongside them and even learn from them. But let’s be real, Mom will always be the boss, right? Tracy enjoys creating functional pieces and working alongside Dave.
Tracy is inspired to create pieces that people will enjoy in their home or yard for years to come as can be seen by her piece called "Flame of Old".
When Kelsey’s not at work, she likes to catch up on tv with a very (we mean VERY) full glass of red wine with her husband, Connor and their furry child, Juno.
Kelsey is inspired by nature and enjoys the challenge of mimicking the softness in nature using metal as can be seen in her piece called "Dogwood".
